Everyone had an amazing weekend at Influential Summit in Carlsbad! We definitely didn’t want the fun to end. Brought to you by Xza Higgins, Parent & Co., and Saarah Samadani,New Bloom Media. This was the perfect event for influencers, micro-influencers, bloggers, content writers, photographers, marketers and all those who love sharing their parenting, lifestyle and wellness journey through social media.
We kicked things off Friday afternoon with a lunch hour where influencers got the chance to grab some food and relax before our first sessions of the day. We saw lots of attendees introducing themselves and explaining why the decided to attend the conference. Karol Priscilla, @karol_priscilla, loved hearing about other people’s take on social media growth and was able to takeaway different tips on how to keep growing.
The first session introduced attendees to Facebook Pixel and walked through installation on their websites so that they can leverage the power of Pixel painlessly. Zia Domic, @huntercollector, said this was her favorite session because she had been ignoring Facebook her entire blogging career and now she is going to dive headfirst into it!
We saw lots of phones out capturing the day. Influencers were constantly on Instagram uploading to their feeds and stories. They were sharing event photos, recorded speaker sessions and tips they learned throughout the day.
We finished off the night with an evening reception that created an informal setting for influencer and brands to mingle while we all watched the sunset over the ocean. Overheard were talks about the reasons behind creating certain social profiles and building engagement. Again, we saw a lot of attendees pull out their phone to check their profiles and follow their new friends. Katelynn Ansari’s, @katelynnansari, favorite part of the event was the Friday night cocktail hour because it was super fun getting to know everyone in a casual atmosphere.
Saturday morning began bright and early with yoga. We had an amazing instructor from MTRNL come and teach our guest, who ranged from beginners to experts. Some of our smaller attendees even joined in on the fun. MTRNL’s Kids Yoga Instructor, Bianca Bloomfield, guided participants through a sunrise yoga practice that left them feeling energetic, inspired and calm for the day ahead.
Saturday sessions began with our special guest panel discussing campaigns that went awry and heard stories from the brand and influencer perspective. The panelists included Julie Cole of Mabel’s Labels, Sarah Hines of UPPAbaby, Tera Jolé, Angelina Spicer, and Ashley Wright.
We then opened up the brand showcase for attendees to chat face-to-face with brands who have influencer programs. Inside we had the Cybex Family Lounge where attendees had the the opportunity to try out a Yema carrier, highchairs, bouncers and strollers. We only heard wonderful things about the Yema. Attendee Ashley, @ashleylynlivin, got her baby girl in the carrier and she fell asleep in minutes while Dionna Chamber’s, @dionnachambers, little one christened the carrier with his teeth. Cybex gifted these two influencers with carriers to test out and share their honest feedback on their social channels.
Also found in the Cybex Family Lounge was the styling booth by Adagio Hair Toolz. Attendees had the chance to sit back, relax and upgrade their do. Stylists were straightening, curling and braiding while showing off their tools.
As guests grabbed some lunch, everyone headed onto the terrace for a special UPPAbaby reveal. UPPAbaby debuted the brand new 2019 Knox Convertible Car Seat that easily adapts as your child’s positioning needs change and will be available later this year! Saarah also went into some car seat safety tips and statistics. Stuart Brazell, @stuartbrazell, really loved the lunch panel because she realized she was not using her car seat correctly.
Heading back into the brand showcase, there were so many amazing companies for influencers to talk with. Shout out to all the brands who came out to share their brands with our attendees. We had Mabel’s Labels, UPPAbaby, InspiraSpark, Crane, Boiron, Nissan, Diono, Nanobebe, Ju-Ju-Be and Cybex. Sabrina, @sabrinavvelazquez, was at the event for Ju-Ju-Be and loved getting to socialize with possible influencers, explain to them on a more personal level about our brand and everything it has to offer.
For a little pick me up through the day, we had out our Snack Station filled with goodies. Guests could come up and grab a bite thanks to our sponsors PopCorners, ONE Brand, Lifeway Kefir, HIPPEAS, KIND, and Life in Jeneral.
The sessions throughout the whole weekend were always packed. They were led by Influencers and Brands. The topics ranged from Getting Booked as a Guest on the Local News to Creating Content and Valuable Relationships with Brands. Harjinder Kukreja, @harjinderkukreja, loved the commitment and passion of the panelists to really benefit and empower the attendees. Natalia, @natalia_usa, really enjoyed that we had sessions by brand representatives because it is so important to know what they think and expect from influencers.
We finished off the day with some baby belly painting! The lovely Andry, @bump.story, asked if she could spruce up some attendees bumps. Karen, @mammabearsays, even used her solo picture later on her page as a pre-gender reveal post.
This weekend was an absolute blast and we were sad to leave the sand, sun, and new friends.
